A read-through of the arduous quarterly earnings call transcript (here) is no longer necessary, thanks to the Yahoo! financial team, who has parsed through these materials and others to pluck out information relevant to The Twilight Saga: New Moon.

According to those findings, new New Moon merchandise will be hitting the shelves of Hot Topic in early October, bolstering otherwise “lackluster” August numbers.

This year, unlike with Twilight merchandising, companies like Nordstrom and various others will also be licensed to produce New Moon products.

Some of Hot Topic’s New Moon merchandise has already been made available through their online store and in some stores, and they are already offering a portal to pre-order the New Moon soundtrack as well.

When Twilight sales revenues dropped, the effects were astronomical, and Hot Topic’s reliance on coming New Moonmerchandise sales was readily apparent.

According to Yahoo!, Hot Topic is remedying projected competition losses by expanding its potential marketability to incoming New Moon merchandise purchasers.

Hot Topic is improving its women’s clothing offerings and has kept inventory under control. These efforts should help it maximize the gains from the fresh traffic the “New Moon” merchandise will bring to stores, he said.
