Florence Welch reveals the meaning of ‘Eclipse’s’ ‘Heavy in Your Arms’

Posted by with 2 Comments

Florence Welch (of Florence + the Machine) has spoken up about the meaning of her The Twilight Saga: Eclipse soundtrack contribution, “Heavy in Your Arms.”

To PopDash, she explained:

‘Heavy In Your Arms’ I suppose is about the weight of love, and how sometimes it can be a burden between two people. . . . I felt this was a strong theme in the Twilight series – is someone being rescued or are they being condemned, and is the love you carry bringing you down? . . . I recorded it using a lot of strange reversed vocal samples and big hip hop piano. It’s basically inspired by 90′s hip hop and gospel choirs, like most of my songs.

Is that the message you got from Welch’s number?

“Heavy in Your Arms” appeared in the credits for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and was widely considered a favorite for Twilight fans from the album.
