I just saw this today, no idea if it’s true, but according with idolator.com there are rumores of Kelly Clarkson being in the soundtrack of New Moon. The track is called “Did You” and you can listen it below:

EDITED: E! has an article saying it’s not true:

However, a rep for movie studio Summit Entertainment is singing a different tune…
There are no plans to use the song, according to the rep.

A source tells me that director Chris Weitz has made no decisions regarding the music for the movie.

We posted a while back, that Carter Burwell wouldn’t be returning to make the original score for New Moon. Carter posted in his official site that from what he knew, Chris Weitz hired Alexandre Desplat to compose the music for the film. Today the blog Upcoming Film Scores confirmed:

New Moon, the upcoming sequel to last year’s massive hit Twilight, gets an original score by French composer Alexandre Desplat. The assignment of the Curious Case of Benjamin Button composer has been confirmed to Upcoming Film Scores by Desplat’s manager. This means that Carter Burwell, whose ‘Bella’s Lullaby’ became an immediate success with Twilight fans, does not return to the sequel. The reason is that New Moon director Chris Weitz already has an ongoing working relationship with Desplat who scored his fantasy epic The Golden Compass. Desplat’s other previous films include The Queen, Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium and Lust, Caution. The Twilight Saga: New Moon will hit theatres on November 20.

According with a FAQ in the Carter Burwell official site, he won’t work in New Moon and don’t know if any of his themes from Twilight (including Bella’s Lullaby) will be in the movie.

Will you work on the sequels to Twilight?

As I understand it, the director of New Moon, Chris Weitz, has hired Alexandre Desplat to composer the music for the film. Desplat composed the music for Weitz’ earlier film The Golden Compass. I don’t know if they’ll use any of my themes from Twilight, such as “Bella’s Lullaby”.

Thanks to Crepusculo Meyer.

From EW.com:

Edward & BellaThe Twilight soundtrack has been languishing toward the bottom of the Billboard 200’s top 20 for some time now — only to leap back with preternatural speed and agility to No. 3 this week. How’d it swing that? First, a special edition of the soundtrack came out, with bonus goodies including a live clip of that one Iron & Wine song, the music video for Paramore’s “Decode,” an interview with Paramore singer Hayley Williams, and, er, a “Beyond the Video” clip for Paramore’s “Decode.”

TheDeadBolt.com has an interesting article on their idea of a perfect New Moon soundtrack.

Dido: “Here with Me”

It is an eternal love song that captures the meaning of wanting to be with someone regardless of the distance. For New Moon characters Edward and Bella, played by Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, their story takes on the meaning of “Here with Me” and proves that true love can conquer all.

Imogen Heep: “Speeding Cars”

A song that chronicles forgiveness more often than it should be given. Jacob Black, played by Taylor Lautner, struggles with his feelings for Kristen Stewart’s Bella knowing that she can’t love him the same way but for some reason he can’t help falling.

Muse: “Time is Running Out”

Muse was featured on the Twilight soundtrack and “Time is Running Out” encompasses the feeling of despair from Bella’s perspective as she struggles to remember how to live, and not just exist with the uncertainty of Edward.

Evanescence: “Missing”

This song could be interpreted mostly from Bella’s point of view in regard to Edward. But it describes that feeling of despair that every character in the series feels, whether it is Charlie who worries over Bella’s well-being or Alice as she desperately tries to help Jasper help himself.

What do you guys think? I personally would like some new music for the New Moon soundtrack.

The 16-year-old Twilighter and “Sonny With a Chance” star let it slip to MTV News that she might be a fan of Bella’s werewolf pal Jacob (played in the movie by Taylor Lautner). “Edward Cullen — I would write a love song to him,” the singer/actress said, before giddily adding, “Or Jacob Black!”

Lovato also said she’d love the chance to participate in any way possible in “New Moon,” the movie’s hotly anticipated sequel, though she’s sure being on the soundtrack is her best bet. “I think it’d be cool to be in the soundtrack,” she told MTV News. “Maybe, but … it’s like anything that would happen that’d be awesome. I don’t know if I’d make a good vampire or a good werewolf.”

The lovely Sarah, sent to us the info that Robert and Twilight was mentioned yesterday at American Idol, here it is her description:

When reviewing contestant Adam Lambert’s performance, Randy Jackson called him a “combination of Steven Tyler meets Fall Out Boy meets Robert Pattinson from Twilight,” which was followed by the ubiquitous Rob-fangirl-screams.

Then Ryan Seacrest addressed Adam saying, “So Randy sees a little Edward Cullen in you from Twilight.”

Adams response: “I love those books and that movie. I love it. Thank you!”

From MTV.

(about “New Moon”) “I don’t think so,” Way said. “We’re very choosy. … There were a few films that we didn’t do the song for because it didn’t fit. I guess a lot of people would say that a vampire movie would fit, but I would disagree with that these days. Even since Black Parade, I would kind of disagree with that. I don’t know if we’d be interested in that.”

“The movie was obviously a huge success, and if they asked us to be a part of [the sequel], that would be great,” Nick Jonas said when we caught up with him and his brothers Monday, revealing that the trio are fans of Stephenie Meyer’s vampire franchise and would be willing to write a song for the “New Moon” soundtrack. “It would be really cool.”

“That would be really cool,” agreed Joe and Kevin.
