The really-quite-good New Moon soundtrack just took the Canadian crooner’s place atop the Billboard 200 after selling 153,000 copies in its first full week in stores, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Along with last weekend’s receipts, that brings the vampire-flick soundtrack up to a nice ten-day total of 268,000.
The New Moon soundtrack beat this week’s biggest new release, Tim McGraw’s Southern Voice. The country star will have to settle for No. 2 after moving a respectable (if lower than usual) 137,000 units in week 1.

In an interview with New Moon The Soundtrack, the Swedish popstar Lycke Li talks about her contributing track to the soundtrack of “New Moon” which is called “Possibility”.
“It’s true, I’m on the new New Moon Soundtrack with a completely new and exclusive song called ‘Possibility’. I got to see it when I was in LA for a show and an idea immediately rose to my mind… It would take a few weeks before I even had a chance to sit down by a piano but then suddenly I wrote it while having a few days off in Sweden just coming out of a fever. I’m really proud of it and hope you will love it and need it. It’s kind of hard talking about it, cause it’s so open and obvious so my best tip is to actually listen to it when you get a chance…. Lay down on a bed and just listen my love.”

Another article on MTV bring the news that Muse will be unveiling “Uprising,” the first single off their new album, The Resistance in the MTV Video Music Awards on September 13. The article also talks about the love of Stephenie Meyer for the band, and how their music inspired her in writing “Twilight”.
“I was in Forks [Washington, the city where 'Twilight' is based] with my sister — before any of the books had come out, just sort of scoping it out,” Meyer said. “I was working on ‘Eclipse’ at the time, and I had [Muse's album] Absolution in, and ‘Hysteria’ came on and, in my mind, the kiss scene between [Bella] and Jacob just choreographed itself, down to how many steps he took toward her. So whenever I read that now, I always hear the song in my mind.”

According with the Oracle in Coldplay official site, they are likely to be in the New Moon Soundtrack:
Q. Dear all-knowing Oracle
I heard a rumor that The Scientist by Coldplay (obviously) was going to be on the New Moon soundtrack. Is this true
It’s very likely that a Coldplay song will end up on the soundtrack to the Twilight sequel given that Stephenie Meyer has credited Coldplay, amongst others, on the inner sleeve for “being instrumental in staving off the writer’s block”.

From MTV:
Believe it or not, Guarini insists that he’s not just trying to bank on the success of the franchise. He says it’s because he’s a big “Twilight” fan. “I’m a fan of the books,” Guarini told MTV News. “At the time I went in to write this song, the two other writers were talking about the books, and we got into a conversation about it. As we were writing it, we thought, there’s a new movie coming out, and so why not give it a shot? And so, we sent it in.”
