Anya’s Thoughts on New Moon
Hello friends!

A few months ago, I was asked by Chris Weitz (the director of the new Twilight movie (New Moon) to come in to his office to screen the latest Twilight movie, NEW MOON. I guess he’d heard my cover of T.I.’s “Whatever You Like” and really liked it. Naturally, I was thrilled. I heard all sorts of my favorite bands were being considered for the soundtrack (Thom Yorke, Death Cab, Grizzly Bear, etc). In fact, on the day of my own private screening, as I walked in, The Killers were making their way out.

In an interview with New Moon The Soundtrack, the Swedish popstar Lycke Li talks about her contributing track to the soundtrack of “New Moon” which is called “Possibility”.

1729942288“It’s true, I’m on the new New Moon Soundtrack with a completely new and exclusive song called ‘Possibility’. I got to see it when I was in LA for a show and an idea immediately rose to my mind… It would take a few weeks before I even had a chance to sit down by a piano but then suddenly I wrote it while having a few days off in Sweden just coming out of a fever. I’m really proud of it and hope you will love it and need it. It’s kind of hard talking about it, cause it’s so open and obvious so my best tip is to actually listen to it when you get a chance…. Lay down on a bed and just listen my love.”

MTV has some new info about the ‘maybe’ track that the New Moon soundtrack will have of Muse.

Singer Matt Bellamy revealed: “I spoke to the director yesterday (and) he wants the track I Belong To You, the sort of vaudeville piano track.

“He wants a rendition of that but the only thing with the new film is they want the songs to be exclusive to the film. So he’s asking if I mind doing, or if we mind doing an alternative version of it.”

Asked if they were up for it Matt said: “I think it’s alright- if it was one of the main tracks on the album I would never do it. But it’s actually one of the weirder tracks on the album.

“(It’s) one of the can’t believe we got away with it kind of tracks. I think it might be worth giving it a go cos it’s a track that might not get played live very often… one of the obscure tracks off the album so it might give that track some life that it wouldn’t have otherwise.”

In an article posted over at New York Times, news about the soundtrack for “New Moon” is revealed: that the list of songs that are going to be featured are going to be revealed tomorrow and some other trivia stuff.

Ms. Patsavas, known for her work on television shows like “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Gossip Girl,” said she was confident that the “New Moon” soundtrack would include Thom Yorke, Bon Iver and Band of Skulls. Death Cab for Cutie’s “Meet Me on the Equinox,” the first single, had its premiere on MTV.com on Sunday, as part of a “Twilight” promotional blitz surrounding MTV’s Video Music Awards. There has been extensive speculation in the music industry all summer about who else would be included. Representatives of Grizzly Bear and the Killers said those groups would be on the soundtrack, but Ms. Patsavas declined to comment, saying that the track list would be completed and announced on Friday.

For bands placement in a “Twilight” film means huge potential sales and wide exposure.

“If you’re an artist that’s successfully branded with a film as enormous as ‘Twilight,’ you get a lasting benefit beyond the movie and the soundtrack itself,” said James Diener, president of A&M/Octone Records. “You’re able to access marketing dollars that the film company has been spending beyond what a record company could or would spend.”

Muse may be in the New Moon Soundtrack. MTV talked with lead singer, Matthew Bellamy about it:

As MTV News has exclusively learned, Muse has planned to have a conversation with “New Moon” director Chris Weitz to discuss contributing a song to the film’s soundtrack. This would be the second “Twilight” franchise soundtrack appearance for the band, following the inclusion of “Supermassive Black Hole” in the first film in 2008.

Personally, I LOVE Muse, and ‘The Resistence’ is their best cd for me. I would love to see any music of it in the soundtrack, but ‘Guinding Light’ would be perfect for New Moon. *__*
If you would like to hear the CD, you can pay a visit to the their media player.
