It looks like a band has already declared that it wants to be in the soundtrack and have Breaking Dawn’s theme song!

You’ve heard plenty about how The Twilight Saga: New Moon’s soundtrack formulation involved the attempts by many fledgling artists to get on the album with their New Moon-inspired music (some of which, by the way, fans were and remain extremely in favor of). So, now that The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is next on the to-be-released roster, it might not surprise you to hear about an up-and-coming group that was vying for a spot on the sure-to-be-a-success album for the film.

Well, take two steps ahead instead of one – surprised yet? Apparently, the first band showing interest in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn has already made its way to the surface by issuing this video (with accompanying acting – whether up to par for the saga or not).

The band is apparently called “Hot Lava,” and according to The State newspaper, it’s “a Columbia band that wants to have the theme song for the fourth film.”

Alexandra Patsavas, the music supervisor for the ‘Twilight‘ films, doesn’t want to pick a favorite when it comes to the 15 tracks on the ‘New Moon‘ soundtrack. “Oh gosh, that’s like asking a mother to pick her favorite child,” Patsavas tells Spinner. After a long pause, she admits, “I’m especially proud that agreed to be on the soundtrack.” For his part, the Thom YorkeRadiohead frontman submitted the unreleased, exclusive solo track, ‘Hearing Damage.’ “The track is physically transcendent, gorgeous and used at a key moment, almost in its entirety, in the movie,” Patsavas reveals.

Death Cab for Cutie and Anya Marina will together to give Twilight fans an early taste of New Moon.

Fans of the “Twilight” series will get an early taste of “New Moon” beginning later this week when Death Cab for Cutie [ tickets ], Sea Wolf, Anya Marina [ tickets ] and others from the film’s soundtrack band together for a Hollywood performance.

The Nov. 6 event, which will take place at the Hollywood & Highland Mall Hot Topic store, is the first in a string of mall performances in six cities nationwide. This long and awaited release is finally upon us! Now we can all go out and buy the soundtrack to ‘New Moon’! Needless to say, you just might find yourself crying over the mellow music, thinking of how Edward could leave Bella. It’s a good thing New Moon has a happy ending! Muse are apparently fully embracing their status as the “Twilight” band. They’ve already had their track “Supermassive Black Hole” on the first film’s soundtrack, and come Friday, Twilighters can get their hands on the “New Moon” soundtrack, which features the group’s remixed track “I Belong to You.”

Nothing is set in stone yet, but Howard noted that besides being a favorite of “Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer, they also have an in with “Eclipse” director David Slade.

“[Slade is] kind of a friend of ours ’cause he directed about three or four of our videos for the second album, and he’s a really great video director,” Howard explained.
