Stephenie Meyer has been listed as number 82 on Vanity Fair’s 2009 “New Establishement List”. Here’s what they had to say.

STAGE OF GLOBAL CONQUEST: The Mormon housewife’s Twilight teen-vampire romance novels sold nearly 29 million copies in one year, capturing the top four positions on the USA Today best-seller list for 2008, making her the first author ever to do so. (J. K. Rowling came close with Nos. 1, 2, 3, and 5 with her Harry Potter titles in 2000.) The movie version of Twilight grossed $191 million in the U.S., and the film adaptation of her second book, New Moon, opens in November. MTV: Hollywood Crush has made a list of the five things they look forward to the most in “New Moon”, “Eclipse” and “Breaking Dawn”. They sure got some epic parts from the books on that list. Here’s what they had to say.

“New Moon” is only 13 short weeks away, “Eclipse” is shooting and just recently, there was an apparently false rumor that we would be getting two “Breaking Dawn” movies. Even though the last “Twilight” film tentatively won’t be coming out until 2011 (or 2012?), it’s hard not to keep our eyes on the last three novels in the “Twilight Saga” as they move toward hitting the big screen. In honor of our excitement over these film adaptations, we have put together a list of our top five favorite scenes we can’t wait to see (in order of importance, of course).

SPOILER ALERT! If you haven’t read anything past the very first book in Stephenie Meyer’s series, you probably should skip reading this list, run out to your nearest bookstore, and, uh … get on that!

Jane the Tiny Terror

What I like: I know she’s a super baddie, but I can’t help thinking Jane is cool. She’s a tiny, quiet, deadly little lady. A pretty killer. This poster does her evil tendencies justice and gives us a good idea of just how creepy the doll-like Dakota can look.

What I don’t like: The smile is too serene. More evil glint behind the eyes, please!

Maybe revenge is a dish best served hot. Victoria may be plotting against Bella and Edward (Edward killed her partner in vamp crime), but Lefevre makes villainhood seem pretty darn appealing. Too bad she’s been replaced by Bryce Dallas Howard for the third Twi-flick, Eclipse.

We have a soft spot for hot moms, and Esme Cullen is way at the top of the list — sure, she’s physically frozen in the body of a 26-year-old, which helps, but she’s also devoted and thoughtful, and Reaser’s easy warmth comes through despite the ostensible icy pallor.

While nothing could top the ear-piercing and unexpected sounds of thousands of girls at the Twilight panel last year — where fan boy culture’s hold on the Con was hijacked by a vampire romance, of all things — 2009 sure came close. And Twilighters were better prepared for the challenge of getting a coveted seat in Hall H for Thursday’s panel; a few fans camped out a full two days ahead, and by Wednesday morning, Twihards were Twittering from the line.

Thanks to the success of Meyer’s Twilight series, 2008 became the year of the vampire. The low-profile author sold 29 million books last year, releasing two new novels (Breaking Dawn and The Host) and selling hoards of paperbacks of what have become instant classics (Twilight, Eclipse and New Moon). Last November, gothy fans camped out to catch the first film based on the series; Twilight grossed $70 million opening weekend. A partial rough draft of the fifth Twilight book leaked online last August; Meyer published the full draft on her Web site and announced the book wouldn’t be published.
