This has nothing to do with Twilight or New Moon, but I thought it was soo cute so I posted it :P It’s a picture of Peter Facinelli SHAKING HANDS with a penguin in “Today’s Daily“!!

Many of you are going to have just one word for this morning’s Daily TwitPic:

Awwwwwwwww!

New Moon” star Peter Facinelli may drink the blood of helpless fuzzy creatures in his role as patriarch of the Cullen clan, but in real life he’s more interested in saving them. Or at least just making friends with them. The headline above doesn’t lie. Facinelli shakes hands with a penguin in the pic after the jump. A cute, fuzzy penguin. And to the penguin’s credit, it manages to keep itself together, even in the presence of a much-loved “Twilight” star. Maybe it’s just crapping its pants (fur?) because it knows what those Cullen people are capable of.

TimeOut talked to Peter Facinelli. He talks about ‘New Moon‘, parenthood and lots more.

Will Twilight fans be surprised by New Moon?
I don’t know if they’ll be surprised; I’m hoping they’ll walk out of the theater happy. I was a fan of the book and am very pleased with how the movie came out. The Cullen family isn’t featured as prominently [as in the first film]. New Moon is focused more on the werewolf side of this small town. Also, Chris Weitz directed New Moon and his vision is different from [Twilight director] Catherine Hardwicke’s. It’s not the same as Twilight, but it still has its edge.

Was it challenging to play dad to a brood of actors so close to your own age?
When I first got cast I thought, I’m only about ten years older than these kids; how am I supposed to play their father? But I was more conscious of that on the first movie. Carlisle’s speech pattern and movements aren’t very contemporary, so it gives him more of a patriarchal feel.

This week, Vanity Fair brings us an interview with one of the vampires, Peter Facinelli in which he talks about the differences between “Twilight” and “New Moon”, his role as father figure on and of set and much more.

Carlisle_BellaHaving featured the members of Twilight’s Wolf Pack last week, VF.com is switching its allegiance to vampires. On a frigid day in New York City, I caught up with actor Peter Facinelli in between his “medical” commitments—he plays a human doctor on Showtime’s Nurse Jackie and a bloodsucking one, the 400-year-old Dr. Carlisle Cullen, in the Twilight saga—to discuss how New Moon differs from the first Twilight movie, his role as a father figure on and off the set, and what he really thinks of his fellow vampires.

As the patriarch of the Cullen clan, have you assumed a similar fatherly role with the cast?
You know, on Twilight I feel like they looked to me as the father figure, but because we became so close, I’m more of an older brother now.

Moviefone recently talked with Peter Facinelli about New Moon.

“I think people should be excited about the action that the second one’s going to bring,” beamed Facinelli. “We still have this love triangle between Rob, Kristen and Taylor that grows in the second one, but as a guy I love to see some action too, and we have a lot more action with the werewolves coming out in full form. That’s going to be fun to watch. It’s something that when you read the books you can imagine, but when you see it it’s a whole other thing.

“‘New Moon’ is going to have a lot more action than ‘Twilight,’ which I’m excited about, and then take the action in ‘New Moon’ and double it in ‘Eclipse.’ I get to be a part of that action, which is fun because Carlyle is this calm figure. I think the vampire brawls are going to be exciting.”

More here.

**Thanks Andie!
