Fancast also interviewed Michael Sheen (Aro).

Enhancing the pedigree of The Twilight Saga: New Moon is Michael Sheen, the star of last year’s Oscar-nominee Frost/Nixon, taking on the role of Aro, the head of the Volturi vampire clan with the power to read thoughts with a touch. He spoke about concocting his characterization, and aside from author Stephenie Meyer, you can bet no one else in this youthful cast is going to share these particular influences.

“It was from Stephenie in the book,” Sheen started. “She describes Aro as having a voice like feathers, so that made me think about what would it sound like if someone had a voice like feathers. And then, as I was starting to play around with it, I reminded myself a little bit of the Blue Meanie. You remember the Blue Meanie in Yellow Submarine and the hand that goes with it? And then I was also thinking about characters from when I was a kid watching stuff that really freaked me out and the Blue Meanie really freaked me out. The Child Catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang – you know, “Lollipops” and all that. I liked the idea of a character who on the surface appears to be very friendly and thinks of himself as just being a sentimental old fool, a romantic at heart, and then he wants to eat your eyes.”

iesb.net has a new interview with The Volturi’s Michael Sheen, Dakota Fanning, Cameron Bright and Jamie Campbell Bower.

newmoon_logo_Q: Dakota, as such a fan of this series, what were the highlights of playing Jane?

Dakota: I think the highlight of playing Jane was getting to wear that costume and having the red contact lenses. I was really excited about that, and getting to play an evil character.

Q: Do you get to do more in Eclipse?

Dakota: It’s about the same. I’m still not very much in the movie.

Q: What did you think when you saw yourself for the first time with the red lenses in?

Dakota: It’s really scary. I think it makes anyone look automatically evil. It was really fun. You get used to them, after a while. You can see pretty good, but it’s still kind of weird.

Q: Michael, did it take you a while to come up with your voice in the film, or was that an instant thought when you read the script?

Michael: No, it was from Stephenie in the book. She describes Aro as having a voice like feathers, so that made me think about what would it sound like …

MoviesOnline.ca has a new interview with the Volturis, Michael Sheen, Jamie Campbell Bower, Dakota Fanning and Cameron Bright.

Q: Dakota, as such a fan of the series, you’ve said in many interviews before that you were really excited about this so what were the highlights of playing Jane and do you get to do more in the next movie?

Dakota Fanning: I think the highlight of playing Jane was getting to wear that costume and to have the red contact lenses — I was really excited about that – and getting to play an evil character. The next movie I already finished doing, Eclipse, and it’s about the same. It’s still not very much in the movie.

Q: What did you think when you saw yourself for the first time with the red lenses in?

Dakota Fanning: I know. It’s really scary. I think it makes anyone look automatically evil. But yeah, it was really fun. You get used to them after a while. You can see pretty good, but it’s still kind of weird.

Michael Sheen the actor who plays the Volturi vampire Aro in New Moon has played another character as a werewolf in the Underworld series, but which side would he fall on in the battle between the supernatural creatures: vampire or werewolf?

Aro from the Volturi

We were all stunned when we got a chance to see Michael Sheen (finally!) in character as Aro. The new “New Moon” TV spot featuring the Volturi gave us a chance to see the bad vamps in action.

But Michael is one of the few actors around (the only one I can think of offhand) who has had the opportunity to play both a vampire and a werewolf. Anyone looking to see a darker modern take on vampire mythology should check out the “Underworld” series, in which Michael plays the werewolf, Lucian.

When we got a chance to talk with “New Moon” director Chris Weitz, we asked him what side Michael would fall on in the battle between the supernatural creatures: vampire or werewolf? …

USA Today has a short inteview with Michael Sheen, who plays Aro in New Moon. He talks about his character and how it was working with Chris Weitz.

After he read the first two books himself, Sheen realized why the literary phenom causes teen girls to swoon. “What it has tapped into, at least in the first book, is how it feels to fall in love for the first time. I don’t think you have to be a girl to relate to that.

“The second book captures the utter desolation of losing that first love. I went through that myself, and Stephenie Meyer invokes that brilliantly.”

So what kind of vamp is Aro? “I suppose the Volturi are like the royal family of vampires, and while he is more their spokesperson in the books, he is their leader in the film. He’s got a sort of regality about him.

Michael Sheen tells BBC Newsbeat about the very extensive the security is on the set of the Twilight Saga movies.

_46345874_pa_sheenMichael Sheen says security was so tight on The Twilight Saga: New Moon that people couldn’t even take photos on set.
The actor, who plays Aro in the film, told Newsbeat there was somebody who was given the task of preventing leaks.
He said: “I remember someone whose job was containment and I thought: ‘What does that actually mean? Does that mean stopping people from getting on the set?’
“And it wasn’t, it was to stop people on the set taking pictures and sending them out.”
Sheen, star of Frost/Nixon and The Queen, revealed that Twilight fans were actually pretty well behaved during filming.

HitFlix is so nice with us fans! They shared today 3 interviews; one with Taylor Lautner, one with Michael Sheen and one with producer Wyck Godfrey!

Q: Were you doing any stunts today?

Taylor Lautner: I’ve been doing a lot recently, yeah. The cool thing is, they’ve pretty much let me do most of my stunts. I got to do all the dirt bike riding, I got to do this really cool sequence that I’m actually not going to tell you about, because I want you to wait to see it. But yeah, the stunts have definitely been my favorite part so far.

More from Taylor’s interview here.

Michael Sheen: “The first day of filming we did the 18th century stuff and then one of the modern scenes,” Sheen says. “It was a lot to deal with; the wig, and contact lenses all day and the make-up, but it was fantastic. These sets are amazing. And the look of everyone is so strong so it was great to just kind of get right into it straight away.

More of Michael Sheen here.

Q: What do you foresee might be the biggest challenges of bringing ‘Breaking Dawn’ to the big screen?

Wyck Godfrey: Let’s see. There’s this little character, this young character in that book, that I think is going to be really hard to …
