The sexy vamps of the wildly popular ‘Twilight’ and “True Blood” series are reportedly starring in a new vampire movie. Stephen Moyer of HBO’s “True Blood” and Cam Gigandet of ‘Twilight’ have taken on roles in the thriller movie ‘Priest’ but this time Moyer plays the mortal, Variety reports.

Based on the TokyoPop comic book, the movie is set in a turbulent time period, ravaged by wars between vampires and humans. The film follows a priest (Paul Bettany) who rebels against the church to avenge a group of murderous vampires who have kidnapped his niece. Gigandet’s character helps the priest because he is in love with his niece, while Moyer plays the brother of the clergyman. On “True Blood,” Moyer plays a blood sucking yet compassionate vampire who falls in love with a telepathic Southern girl named Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin). In ‘Twilight,’ Gigandet played the merciless vampire James who hunts the protagonist Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart). ’Priest’ is to begin shooting this week.

Cam Gigandet is set to play another vampire, but a not a bad vampire this time:

Cam Gigandet will star opposite Paul Bettany in “Priest,” a horror Western that Scott Stewart is directing for Screen Gems.

Adapted by Cory Goodman from a TokyoPop comic book, “Priest” is set in a world ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampires and follows a warrior priest (Bettany) who turns against the church to track down a murderous band of vampires who have kidnapped his niece.

Gigandet plays a young wasteland sheriff who is part vampire. He partners with Bettany to save the girl he loves, the niece. That latter part has yet to be cast.

Cam Gigandet hasn’t met a group of rabid “Twilight” fans he can’t take in a fight, and he proves it in his new video on FunnyOrDie.com. In the clip, a group of tween girls decide to fight the actor who plays evil vampire James, even though he warns them that they shouldn’t take on a man who’s won the MTV Movie Award for Best Fight and is nominated again this year.

Gigandet was snapped on Friday in Los Angeles playing soccer with a group of young girls, several shots showing gashes on his lip and chin with dried blood.

Some kind of vampire squabble between the nets? Not quite.

On Cam Gigandet: We loved him as James, the evil vampire tracker in Twilight. Based on his performances in Twilight, The OC, and in his movie Never Back Down, we think this is one hottie to sink our teeth into.

On New Moon: New Moon, the sequel to Twilight, will reunite old characters, Hollywood’s hottest 20-somethings and even a few werewolves. Basically, there’s no escaping this one. It’s out for blood. Consider yourself drained.
