Does your relationship with George Clooney in the film have any romantic undertones?
No, that’s actually one of the things I love about this script and this role. My character is a young woman, but there is never a romantic plot for her, and there is never a romantic interest with George. George has his own love interest, and the role really could have been for any general age, it just happens to be a young woman. She’s not romantic in any way, just smart and driven.

Is it true that you beat out people like Ellen Page and Emily Blunt for the part?
I don’t know anything about that. I know it was printed, but certainly I don’t know anything about that.

What was your reaction when you got the role?
I had already signed up to do Scott Pilgrim, and I was so worried about scheduling problems and letting anybody down that my immediate reaction was this overwhelming anxiety …

In a recent interview with the mortals of New Moon, Bella’s high school friends answered some questions

Sure, New Moon’s vampires and werewolves may get all the attention, but it’s Bella’s gang of high school friends who keep the movie centered in reality. Anna Kendrick, Michael Welch, Justin Chon and Christian Serratos (who play Jessica, Mike, Eric and Angela, respectively) talk about providing the franchise’s comic relief and keeping it real as mortals amongst all the supernatural shenanigans.

Unlike Twilight, which was shot in Portland, you shot New Moon in Vancouver. What was that like?

Justin: The weather’s actually been better here. Portland was very, very, very cold and rainy. It’s a little bit nicer here.

Anna: One of the freaky things about shooting New Moon in a different location than Portland was the re-creation of things, like the high school parking lot. It was like déjà vu because we were in a different country but they completely recreated the parking lot from the school we shot at before.

While Anna was at the Palm Springs International Film Festival she did an interview with ET.

ET’s Mary Hart presented actress Anna Kendrick with the Palm Springs International Film Festival Rising Star Award, and the actress opened up about working alongside George Clooney in her new film ‘Up in the Air’ and about her role in the wildly popular ‘Twilight’ film franchise.

Kendrick, 24, plays Bella Swan’s (Kristen Stewart) mortal high school friend in the ‘Twilight’ series. “We had no idea the kind of magnitude of the success that it was about to have,” the actress says of making the first vampire movie.

As the “Twilight” film franchise has shifted from under-the-radar property to out-of-this-world media and entertainment spectacle, actress Anna Kendrick has quietly continued to play the small role of Jessica Stanley, one of Bella Swan’s high school classmates. The 24-year-old has had a front-row seat as co-stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have become paparazzi targets whose every sneeze becomes tabloid-news fodder. After seeing what those two have endured, Kendrick is thankful for the relative obscurity of her part in the vampire saga.

“I would have gone insane at this point!” she told MTV News while promoting the George Clooney comedy “Up in the Air” at the Toronto International Film Festival. “They’re so levelheaded. They’ve handled it so gracefully.”

In a question & answer session with Anna Kendrick, HitFix got the chance to talk to her about her latest projects; “New Moon”, “Scott Pilgrim” and “Up in the Air”.

Kendrick isn’t a stranger to the big screen or the spotlight, however. She plays the supporting, human role of Bella’s schoolmate Jessica in “The Twilight Saga” and will return with the franchise in both “New Moon” this fall and “Eclipse” next June. She also landed a role in the hype-worthy Edgar Wright flick “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” coming out next year.
Having enjoyed “Air” at the public premiere last night, I sat down for a one on one with Kendrick at a Toronto hotel today to discuss her work in “Air” and her very busy 2009.
Q: Are you enjoying all your press commitments to day?
Part of me feels like I’m under hypnosis, but I’m trying to stay focus and respond. And for all I know, I’m answering in French and I don’t even know it.
