Ready for the next chapter in the Twilight craze?

If the original Stephenie Meyer teen vampire novels, movies, DVDs, posters and T-shirts aren’t enough, now comes Twilight: The Graphic Novel, Vol. 1 (Yen Press, $19.99), on sale today.

The 350,000 first printing is believed to be the biggest for any graphic novel in the U.S. market.

Because of the original Twilight novel’s length, the graphic novel will be published in two volumes. No date has been announced for the second. Nor is there any word on whether the last three books in the series will be adapted to the format.

By reviewing the words used by the cast in the film as compared with those passages present in the text, one can see that the words are quite resemblant of the original quotes.

Reports everywhere this evening claim “Breaking Dawn” is going to be adapted into two movies.

The official word given to Gossip Cop from a rep for Summit is, “No decision has been made and as we have said all along we are continuing to work with Stephenie Meyer to bring Breaking Dawn to the big screen.”

HOWEVER, a well-placed source tells Gossip Cop dividing Breaking Dawn into two pictures “is the direction that it’s going in.” We’re told that from a practical standpoint, separating the story into two parts and shooting back-to-back is what makes most sense.

Earlier reports seem to be fairly accurate when it comes to timing, specifically, that filming may begin in October.

Gossip Cop will keep you posted when plans are officially finalized.

I’m delighted to announce, exclusively, that Yen Press will publish Twilight: The Graphic Novel, Vol. 1 on March 16, with a first printing of 350,000 copies. Here’s a first glimpse at the book’s cover, as well as an exclusive peek at one of its panels (for a full ten-page excerpt, and the entire Q&A with Stephenie Meyer, see the issue of EW that goes on sale this Friday).
Meyer talked to us about all this, and more. Here are a few snippets from our conversation:

The text of your original novel is boiled down so carefully that it doesn’t feel like anything is missing. Were you the one who did that?

I was definitely involved. I didn’t do the original “script” for the book, so to speak. But when I got the dialogue with the images, I did a lot of tinkering. In a couple of places, I asked for missing scenes to be inserted. For example, the conversation in the car that Bella and Edward have after she faints in Biology.

When reading a novel, most of us develop our own images of its characters based upon our interpretation the text. It must have been a bit surreal for you, having already played Susie, to picture yourself within the context of the book.

SR: Yeah, it’s weird. I really sympathize with the likes of Kristen Stewart, who’s playing Bella in Twilight. I think teenagers can make their points more well known than adults, and they feel quite strongly about things — [especially] with a book like Twilight …

Speaking of Twilight, I heard that Robert Pattinson snuck into the Lovely Bones premiere.

SR: Yeah, I heard that when I was at the after-party. I didn’t see him, though.

You figure he’d at least have the courtesy to say hello.

SR: [Laughs] Actually, someone said that to me: “God, you think he’d come up and tell you how awesome you were.” And I was like, eh, it doesn’t make a difference. It’s okay. I can see why he …

For the second year in a row, Meyer swept the top four spots. No other author — not even J. K. Rowling— has done that in the list’s 16-year history.

Congrats Stephenie!

Recently, we (MTV) caught up with the one-and-only Stephanie Pratt — younger sister of Spencer and sister-in-law of Heidi — and according to the “Hills” star, she’s as hard-core as any novel-wielding 19-year-old.

” ‘New Moon,’ I’m obsessed!” she said of the blockbuster and the “Twilight” novels. “I’ve read all the books. … I cried the hardest [reading] ‘New Moon‘ … ‘New Moon‘ and ‘Eclipse,’ but ‘Twilight‘ was so good too!”

What was it that made her cry? “The birthday party,” she said. “They throw [Bella] a birthday party, and I was crying tears of joy, and then Jasper tries to kill her, and I was crying tears of sorrow. I mean, it was nonstop emotions. Jacob really needed to leave Bella alone. She was trying to commit suicide the whole book, because she missed Edward so much, and that is the most touching love story I’ve ever heard.”

Pratt said Taylor Lautner’s character should be ashamed of himself for making moves on the despondent Bella Swan. “Get out of here, werewolf!” she laughed. …
