MTV caught up with Jackson Rathbone last week while he was on the set of his new movie ‘Girlfriend‘, and Jackson gave some details from his flashbacks scenes in Eclipse.

Jackson Rathbone“It was just really fantastic to get to delve in there and to get to don all the Civil War regalia and whatnot. That was a pleasure,” he said. “I had to wear this wool suit of a major, cavalry major. “I got the big hat and everything. Hop off the horse, bow to these ladies, and then I get eaten. And then I get turned!”

There will also be flashbacks of Jasper training newborn vampires while he’s still “a bad dude, a bad vampire,” Rathbone said. He added that training from another film, “The Last Airbender,” including wrestling, hand-to-hand combat and weapon play, was useful since there wasn’t much time to prepare for the fight scenes in “Eclipse.” But Rathbone was quick to clarify none of the vampires’ combat scenes would be martial art-y.

First of all we want to congratulate Anna Kendrick for winning the 21st annual Palm Springs International Film Festival’s Rising Star Award for her performance in the upcoming “Up in the Air.”

While Anna was at the Palm Springs International Film Festival she did an interview with ET.

ET’s Mary Hart presented actress Anna Kendrick with the Palm Springs International Film Festival Rising Star Award, and the actress opened up about working alongside George Clooney in her new film ‘Up in the Air’ and about her role in the wildly popular ‘Twilight’ film franchise.

Kendrick, 24, plays Bella Swan’s (Kristen Stewart) mortal high school friend in the ‘Twilight’ series. “We had no idea the kind of magnitude of the success that it was about to have,” the actress says of making the first vampire movie.

The Sydney Morning Herald sat down with Robert Pattinson and interviewed him.

You can read the entire interview here.

Here is an excerpt:

The real reason Pattinson is so calm is simple: “I’m not the lead in the second film. Taylor [Lautner] is.” He grins idiotically. “I appear in Bella’s dreams. So I’m in it but the focus is not on me. I just have significant moments at the beginning … and the end. So I’m more of a supporting role in this one, which is why I felt so free. I didn’t have to deal with any of the bs of the first one. I don’t have to hold the movie or worry about the fans. I think I did it better without all those pressures.”

An interesting little article by the Examiner caught my attention. Listen to this! During the admissions interview for Oxford University, students were asked, “Why might it be useful for an English student to read the Twilight series?”. So reading twilight is truly educational! How about that!

The popular book series, Twilight has now made it to the halls of Oxford University.  The Telegraph is reporting that students applying to Oxford University were asked a question about Twilight by Stephenie Meyer during the rigorous admissions process.

Here is the question that was asked in the interviews for applicants in English Literature:

“Why might it be useful for an English student to read the Twilight series?”

Whether or not you are a fan of the series, how might you answer the question?

EW’s Leah Greenblatt reviewed the ‘New Moon‘ soundtrack, and she has nice things to say!

After the success of the first installment, music supervisor Alexandra Patsavas (Gossip Girl, Grey’s Anatomy) gets her pick of the alt litter here, with each contributing original, previously unreleased material: From the opening chords of Death Cab for Cutie’s dusky guitar rapture ”Meet Me on the Equinox” to the spooky robot-ennui of Thom Yorke’s ”Hearing Damage”
and Grizzly Bear’s gorgeous folk-pop pastoral ”Slow Life,” New Moon rarely falters. A peacocking remix of Muse’s shamelessly operatic ”I Belong to You” becomes a Bowie-esque glam-rock stomper. In its wake, Bon Iver and St. Vincent quietly unfurl ”Rosyln,” a duet of hushed, almost church-like beauty.

Kristen Stewart has been confirmed to join the cast (the leading role) of the movie “An American Girl”.

There’s been a lot of Internet buzz that Kristen Stewart will join the buzz-cut ranks for a movie titled, “An American Girl,” in which she would play a Marine. So is this real or just another Stewart rumor?

Gossip Cop can now confirm, via her rep, that it is TRUE!

“An American Girl,” to be directed by James Woods, is about a woman who after high school finds herself wasting her life drinking and drugging in a small town in Indiana. During one particular night of boozing, she has sex with a guy in a quarry. “She gets taped doing it on somebody’s phone and in a small town,” says Woods, “her reputation is ruined and on a drunken whim, she joins the Marines.”

Stewart’s character sobers up, learns a number of important life lessons as a Marine, and even returns to her hometown, where she rebuilds her life.

The new issue of Empire magazine is out, and they bring two posters from Edward and Bella, and an article with a conversation with Chris Weitz and Taylor Lautner.

Edward and BellaIn the November issue of Empire, out now, we not only have two spiffing New Moon posters but also the lowdown on the second instalment in the Twilight series. And we got Chris Weitz and Taylor Lautner to explain why this one’s harder-edged and more man-friendly.

“You’ve got the werewolves coming in,” said Weitz, “and the effects are going to be great on that part of the movie. Also, there’s more fighting and that should appeal to the boys. There is also a male character, Jacob, who is inherently a more viable character for most boys because he’s like an ordinary guy. He works on cars, whereas Edward is a perfect man, and maybe he only appeals to perfect men. That makes the demographic rather small! So there’s more of a way into this one – we do hope to up the male demographic!”

Thanks Helen!

oct09_web_149_200Once upon a time, the Twilight book series was the equivalent of literary crack for impressionable tweens, fantasizing about the forbidden love between vampire and delectable human.

Fast forward a couple years, and Twilight mania has swept the nation in cinematic form, allowing fans to finally assign faces to their beloved Edward Cullen and Bella Swan. Pandemonium continues to gain steam as fans young and old indulge their thirst for blood and romance and the excitement will surely be at an alltime high with the latest installment of the series, New Moon, set for release this November. But while veteran heartthrobs Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have been at the forefront of the Twilight craze, stars like Ashley Greene, better known as the psychic, pixie-like vampire Alice Cullen in the film series, are still adapting to newfound fame. In fact, Greene, a Jacksonville native, was practically a newbie to the scene before landing the role that changed her life. Even our photo shoot, held at West Hollywood’s Coco de Ville / STK, was the starlet’s very first cover shoot. After a day spent amidst designer gowns, camera crews and the comic relief of Greene’s adorable pup, Marlo, Greene took a moment to come up for air and catch us up on life spent in Twilight.

MTV has some new info about the ‘maybe’ track that the New Moon soundtrack will have of Muse.

Singer Matt Bellamy revealed: “I spoke to the director yesterday (and) he wants the track I Belong To You, the sort of vaudeville piano track.

“He wants a rendition of that but the only thing with the new film is they want the songs to be exclusive to the film. So he’s asking if I mind doing, or if we mind doing an alternative version of it.”

Asked if they were up for it Matt said: “I think it’s alright- if it was one of the main tracks on the album I would never do it. But it’s actually one of the weirder tracks on the album.

“(It’s) one of the can’t believe we got away with it kind of tracks. I think it might be worth giving it a go cos it’s a track that might not get played live very often… one of the obscure tracks off the album so it might give that track some life that it wouldn’t have otherwise.”

A decision on whether to have any fan screenings prior to the release on 20th November are still being considered. If these screenings go ahead whether or not any of the cast attend is also unsure. Swan Cinema’s competition to send one lucky winner and a guest to the London Premiere has been thrown into disarray as a result of this decision. However should any fan screening be scheduled for London we will still send the lucky winner and a guest to the London screening.
